Dozens of community members, Stone Soup organizers, Worcester Roots Project staff, EPOCA members and Worc. Lead Action Collaborative folks have been busy organizing a party that might even top last year’s block party.

This year it will be Saturday, August 23rd
4-8pm (Rain date= Sunday, Aug. 24th, 4-8pm)

Free, open to all, on King Street between Main and Queen Streets.
Food, numerous exciting performers, cultural booths, social justice tables, games, tours of Stone Soup’s new garden sites, and much more.

Placed in a Spanish pre-civil war scenario.

The movie is a great introduction to Almodóvar’s world: an outsized, farcical, candy-colored swirl where manic lovers, terrorists, and druggies all implode in on one another and drag us along for the laughs.

Children of Heaven

Children of Heaven (Persian: بچه‌های آسمان) is a 1997 Iranian film. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1998. It deals with a brother and sister and their adventures over a lost pair of shoes, while also touching upon the more serious subject of the political situation in Iran as well as class differences between the rich and the poor and daily urban life.

It is touching, sad and joyous. Most of the segments appear to be
completely unstaged, unrehearsed. The music, ranging from the sensual
flamenco music of the Spanish Gypsies, to the melancholy music of the
Central European Gypsies, is exquisite. If you love Gypsy music, you’ll
find Latcho Drom absolutely beautiful.”
