Within a week of the 3rd anniversary of the fire…
Stone Soup has begun to rebuild at 4 King Street!
Masterminded by Stone Soup co-founder, David Minasian, an amazing collaboration has come together over the past six months, with the volunteer work of Mass YouthBuild Coalition, the Carpenters Union, Shriver Job Corp, and Rebuilding Together Worcester. Also, just recently confirmed is Cooperative Fund of New England as a financing partner!
Check out photos below/attached from tackling the garage and back lot with Clark students’ Just Do It day and PORCH DEMOLITION with YOUTHBUILD Worcester. Find in the photos the awesome Construction Manager / Super, Tim Tudor LEED AP BD+C, with his green hard hat symbolic for all the green and collaborative expertise he brings to the project.
It will be a green rebuild, with weatherization work, training and BPI certification opportunities.
Look out for more as we soon will be launching a GRASSROOTS FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN.
Join us at an upcoming work day (to be announced soon on this site) and the
GENERAL MEETING/celebration of rebuilding:
Tuesday, April 10th
at 6:00pm
at YMCA Central Branch, 766 Main St, Worcester
(always 2nd tuesday of the month, same time, same place)
We wanted to also thank some people who have made this possible:
Todd Rodman from Seder & Chandler Law for irreplaceable legal support.
Peter Stevens from Maple Street Architects for so many hours of guidance and architectural work!
…and so many more, thanks to all of our members and supporters for helping reach our mission to build grassroots power by connecting and enriching groups and individuals in our communities who are working for social justice in Worcester, MA. We are building community and economies based in cooperation and creativity while resisting oppression and gentrification.
